Not-so guilty pleasure

Looking for a milk alternative, I tried soy milk and found it did not quite agree with my palate or digestive system. I then tried almond milk and found its taste superior. The almond flavor is there but not strong, and the chocolate variety is pleasantly sweet. Each serving also yields a healthy dose of Vitamin E.

My son is addicted to chocolate milk. I wanted to get him off of dairy and the "chemically" sugar free chocolate drink mix I was using. I tried chocolate soy milk, but it wasn't a hit. I thought I'd try this for the heck of it. He loves it. Im glad he's off the dairy milk and there are no chemicals in the chocolate part of the drink. Now when he has regular chocolate milk he says it tastes funny.

My son has developed a dairy sensitivity and can no long drink dairy milk. A friend recommend that we try this with him and he loves it! Our other children have started drinking it as well, so we go through a lot of it in our house.

Number 1 Chocolate Milk

I grew up loving chocolate dairy milk, ignorant of the cruelty involved, ignorant of its link to veal and ground beef, of the speciesism, of the health risks, of the huge impact on the environment...and hey, it tasted good. I loved chocolate bars, chocolate ice cream, you name it. After I learned a bit more and just started thinking about it, I went meatless the lazy way (not bothering to check labels, still eating animal-based foods that others cooked minus muscle meat and the like, still using dairy, eggs, honey, etc) at the age of 12 or so, and dairy milk started tasting less pleasant around then. When I went vegan, I tried a few chocolate non-dairy milks, and some were better than others. I thought I was content with Rice Dream, until I decided to try this "weird" almond stuff one day... I should learn to stop making assumptions like that. Rice Dream is still great, but Almond Breeze is incredible! It wasn't "just as good" as the chocolate milk I remembered from my childhood, it was even better. I actually couldn't make out any almond flavor. It was pure smooth creamy chocolateness, thick and delicious. The experience was somewhat like eating Turtle Mountain's regular So(y) Delicious chocolate ice cream, then eating the Chicago Soy Dairy's Temptation chocolate...it's the difference between "nice and tasty" and "superbly yummy almost beyond words" :) I highly recommend this chocolate milk above all others in terms of taste and consistency. It also doesn't hurt that it's healthy as well, with no saturated fat, cholesterol, trans fats, etc, and contains significant amounts of several good nutrients. While it has considerably more sugar than the original flavor Almond Breeze, I don't think it's a problem for healthy people, and the evaporated cane juice (no white sugar or corn syrup here) really adds to the taste.
