A fair substitute for fresh hummus

Casbah's Hummus mix is a fair substitute for fresh hummus. The texture is somewhat grainy, but improves with extra liquids added and some time to set. My family enjoys it with extra lemon juice. It makes a good dip for fresh vegetables, especially red peppers, carrots, and cucumbers. This is also a good sandwich spread to put on whole grain pitas with raw veges and sprouts.

Good Quick Hummus

I agree that homemade hummus is the best, but does take some work and is pretty expensive at the health food deli near me...so it is great to have an option for instant hummus. I also like taking hummus mix when I'm camping for something easy to pack but different from usual camping food. To me, the convenience makes up for it not being quite like fresh.
