Naturally Raised Meat We stock elk, buffalo, beef, pork, lamb, chicken, ground turkey, whole turkey (fpr holidays), quail, ostrich, cod, halibut, salmon, meat substitutes, and other healthy specialty meats. Selection may vary by store. We have our own set of standards for the quality of meat we sell, going beyond the USDA's "natural meat" standard. All of the meat we sell is also naturally-raised. You can be assured that the meats sold in our stores are from animals raised without the use of hormones, hormone implants, and antibiotics, and have never been fed animal by-products, such as waste or blood, a practice common in conventional factory farms. And while some are pastured and then grainfinished, some varieties, such as High Plains Bison, River Rancher, and Lasater, are exclusively grass-fed. Additionally, we only buy from companies who employ humane practices raising their animals. Our standards are higher because we realize the importance of eating not just natural, but naturally-raised meat, not only for your health, but for the health of the environment, and the well-being of the animals. Meat and fish that are frozen at the time of harvest are safer and fresher than if processed in house. Bacterial growth and spoilage is largely stopped, while the quality of the food is not affected. In fact, due to reduced bacterial growth overall, frozen meat and poultry is much safer than "fresh". This also prevents us from operating an in house butcher shop which our Vegetarian customers and customers sensitive to the sight and smell of animal carcasses appreciate. Natural Bulk Foods and Herbs Our bulk food is sold in pre-packed sealed bags to help prevent spoilage and contamination while in transit and in-store. Most nuts, flours, and candy are refrigerated to prolong freshness while at our warehouse and while on sale in our stores.
