There's a strong barley taste. I did not like them at all and I tried to keep eating them! My husband was okay with the first one, but refused to eat any after that. With 2 kids, we never have cookies for long until these...

...not as yummy as the original in my opinion. The taste and texture were a bit different, and not in a good way. But if you want a creme cookie without wheat, they're worth a try. You might or might not like them, since everyone's tastes are different, but I think there's a decent chance you'll enjoy them at least a decent amount, even if you don't fall in love with them (and you might fall in love, you can't know until you try). ALL the Newman O's are vegan according to the manufacturer's website as of today ( http://www.newmansownorganics.com/faq.php ) so all are dairy-free anyway, if that's your only concern and you don't mind wheat.
