The local and sustainable food movement is growing by leaps and bounds, but it faces ever more challenges as it grows. From a wave of approvals of new genetically engineered crops, to FDA’s food safety regulations, to local zoning ordinances — the regulatory, economic, and social structure of our food system affects what farmers can grow and consumers can buy.

We have important opportunities to change the policies that govern our food system, but we need people — farmers, food producers, chefs, and consumers — who understand the issues and are willing to speak up. Our annual Farm & Food Leadership Conference is an integral part of our work as a voice for independent agriculture.
