Myrna-Elois Davis Washington (Dr. ME)

Myrna-Elois (ME) Davis Washington is a health educator and promoter, empathic healer, ordained minister, and health and wellness psychologist who works with caregivers, seniors, and children to provide them with the information, services, and resources they need to take responsibility for and make informed decisions about their health and well-being. Myrna-Elois believes: 1) All dis-ease and health begin and ends in the Mind; 2) An individual’s health and well-being are his/her own responsibility and require self-love, self-respect, and self-care; 3) Each individual has the right and responsibility to make his/her own Informed Decisions about all aspects of his/her life and health; 4) Prevention is the most effective approach to health and wellness; and 5) Balance, the most natural state of our being and health, is #1. Her role as a health and wellness educator and psychologist is to facilitate access to the information, services, and resources necessary to achieve this. Myrna-Elois has worked for over 35 years as an interdisciplinary health educator, instructor, advocate, and counselor throughout the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, CA areas at agencies such as the City of Beverly Hills and the Beverly Hills Country Club, Los Angeles and San Diego Unified Public Schools, and San Diego Unified School District; and throughout the Denver and Aurora, CO areas at the City and County of Denver, the Denver Water Board, the Denver VA Hospital, Colorado Department of Transportation, Aurora Public Schools, and  the University of Colorado’s Center for Caring. Myrna-Elois’ most compelling experiences have been promoting wellness throughout her community as Mrs. Aurora/America (1996-2003) and through the Parent-Teacher Organizations at her five children’s and grandchildren’s schools. Most recently, Mrs. Washington is involved with implementing her evidence-based self-care program, Loving ME, through an online group (#Loving ME: The Art of PhilautiologyTM – Mindful Self-Care for Caregivers) and a children’s program designed to address bullying, self-efficacy, and self-love (Loving ME - Mindful Self-Care for Children). Mrs. Washington is also the author of three books: 1) Winning Ways; The Art and Science of Philautiology; 2) The Winning Ways Workbook; and 3) Loving ME – A Children’s Book About Bullying, Self-Efficacy, and Self-Love. Myrna-Elois is trained and certified in Hatha, Kundalini, and Tantric Yoga, Mindfulness-Based Meditation, Creative Visualization, Breathology, Energy Healing, and Dance/Exercise, and Reiki (Reiki Master/Shinpiden). She is a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society, Worldwide Who’s Who, a former Mrs.Aurora/America (1998-2003), and a certified wedding officiant and minister specializing in blessings and healing rituals. In addition to studying extensively at the University of California at San Diego, San Diego State University, and Howard University, Myrna-Elois holds a BA and an MA in health and wellness psychology from the University of the Rockies and is currently writing her dissertation on the effects of mindful self-care on the health of the familial caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s Disease (the sixth leading cause of death in the country) and dementia. The most exciting part about Myrna-Elois’ journey and work is that her studies and life experiences have inspired and led to the trademarking and coining an entirely new word – Philautiology (which has been added to Merriam Webster and Wikipedia and defined as ‘the study and practice of self-love and self-care as an interdisciplinary field of study and self-therapy’), creating a universal term for a new field of study to be researched, studied, and validated by other health enthusiasts, students and researchers at health/education establishments, schools, colleges, and universities.
