As part of our commitment to offering only USDA Certified Organic produce, we ask our suppliers to emphasize the best seasonal fruits and vegetables when they are at the height of ripeness and flavor. Our ultimate goal is to procure organic produce from local farms or as close to home as possible, but as the seasons turn, our produce suppliers will move to growers from warmer growing regions like California, Texas, Central and South America. In some instances, you will see crisp, fresh organic apples from as far away as New Zealand. No matter where the produce is grown, it must be grown in compliance with our country’s organic regulations.
We only offer produce that has been certified organic in accordance with the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) Standards. NOP Standards encompass every aspect of the process from seed to sale. Some of the rules and regulations that a produce grower must adhere to are:
