3 DIY Holiday Gifts in 10 Minutes or Less!

October 24, 2016

by Beth Dokolasa

The holidays are a time to show appreciation and gratitude to our cherished friends and family. However, that can be hard to do if we’re locked in the basement tediously gluing sequins or cleaning up a glitter mess (which is never really done).

Fortunately, there are some simple personalized gifts you can put together for both hosts and guests alike in just 10 minutes or less. From body care to cooking, your friends and family have different interests, so I’m featuring three different gifts and activities that will make each recipient feel loved and appreciated.

Plus, to save you even more time this holiday season, each recipe link takes you to a beautiful downloadable recipe card to include with your gift.

Mediterranean Spice Mix

Prep Time: 5 minutes

This Mediterranean Spice Mix redefines “all-purpose seasoning,” because it practically does it all—pork, beef, and fish. Featuring basil, oregano, cumin, and coriander, this blend is also a great addition to egg and vegetable scrambles. No matter what kind of New Year’s diet resolutions your friends and families will be trying this year, these Mediterranean flavors will definitely spice it up!

This gift is budget-friendly because it uses bulk organic herbs and spices. Each batch makes about ¾ cup, which is the perfect size for one gift, but you can easily double, triple, or quadruple to make several.

The downloadable recipe cards each feature the Mediterranean Spice Mix and three great recipes. Choose the best one for each Mediterranean Spice Mix recipient: the Perfectly Delicious Pot Roast, Mediterranean Fish Tacos, or the Spicy Italian Pork Burgers. Don’t forget to label your gift.

Simmer Pot Blends

Prep Time: 5 minutes

When we’re stuck inside during the winter, adding a new aroma can freshen up the house—and help elevate our mood.

I have two very different Simmer Pot Blends to share that virtually everyone will enjoy. The Festive Cheer Simmer Blend features classic holiday scents like cinnamon, orange peel, cloves, and star anise, while the Invigorating Wintry Air uses a refreshing blend of eucalyptus, mint, lavender, tarragon, and rosemary.

Each recipe batch fits neatly in a 4-ounce spice jar. Add a bow and include instructions and a custom label, such as “Festive Cheer for Joey!”

Similar to the Sugar & Salt Scrub, this activity also works well as a DIY station for guests or as a gift for your hosts.

Sugar & Salt Scrub

Prep Time: 8-10 minutes

Fall and winter are perfect times to start using a body scrub, because they help remove dead skin cells so your fresh skin can drink up lotion and creams. This Sugar & Salt Scrub is very simple to customize and is a welcomed gift for any host who will be ready to relax after a busy day of entertaining.

This Sugar & Salt Scrub is also a fun DIY activity and party favor for your guests when you are the host. When I hosted friends for a holiday party, I created a little scrub station where they could each make their own body scrub. I provided a few essential oil blend ideas, but it was fun to see what they came up with on their own.

In the downloadable recipe card, you’ll find several essential oil combinations such as energizing peppermint-rosemary and decadent orange-vanilla.

If giving as a gift, decorate the container with ribbons and a doily. Personalize with a label, such as “Charlotte’s Breathe Easy Scrub.”

With these three great ideas for DIY party favors and gifts for hosts, you can create personalized gifts and still enjoy the holiday season with all your friends and family.
