Introducing Natural Grocer's Free-Range Egg Standard

While the current trend in eggs is cage-free, we’ve been there and done that since 1955. But at Natural Grocers we are always raising standards and are proud to announce that all of the eggs we sell are at least Free Range—think cage free on steroids (well, not literal steroids as that would be bad for the hens and we would never allow hormones or growth promoters). Outdoor space is required, indoor space must be maximized, and those lucky hens must be provided with an environment that encourages chicken-like behaviors.

We have also launched our new rating system
Free range egg ratings

Bronze

Chickens have space to move and be chickens – both indoors and out. Of course, no antibiotics, hormones, growth promoters are allowed.

Silver

Everything in bronze, plus more space for chickens to move and do what chickens do, AND hens are fed non-GMO feed.

Gold

These hens must be out on pasture, and these eggs must be Certified Organic too. Everything in Bronze and Silver is included under the Gold Ranking.

Don’t be fooled, despite being the basic ranking—because our minimum standards are so high—Bronze still represents one of the absolute highest quality products that can be bought at any grocery or health food store.
