This exciting, long-term partnership with Beyond Pesticides kicks off on September 1, 2020 with a month-long fundraising campaign. Natural Grocers’ goal for Ladybug Love Our Neighborhoods is to raise $100,000 in September for Beyond Pesticides through two in-store fundraising opportunities. During this first opportunity, Natural Grocers will donate $1 to Beyond Pesticides for every reusable, limited-edition “Organic Month Headquarters” shopping bag purchased (retail: $1.99). Natural Grocers' customers will have another opportunity to make contributions ($1, $5 or $10) at any one of our 159 store locations. Natural Grocers is a longtime leader of the organic movement through its national advocacy efforts. We are proud to partner with Beyond Pesticides to further the critical mission of converting local parks and playing fields to pesticide-free management practices to make them safer for kids and pets to play in.
Currently, Beyond Pesticides and Natural Grocers are transitioning Roosevelt Park and its Memorial Rose Garden in Longmont, CO by eliminating synthetic pesticides and fertilizers and converting exclusively to organic practices. Established in 1892, in the center of this thriving small town an hour north of Denver, Roosevelt Park is the community’s pride and joy. It was named after the visiting President in 1910 and the Memorial Rose Garden was planted just after World War II. This project of converting to organic fertilizers and pesticide-free practices is a prime example of Beyond Pesticides’ mission in action. Additional park projects in communities where Natural Grocers operates will be announced.
