Spicy Nut Crunch

This signature starter is a great table snack to keep on hand when your guests are anxiously awaiting the main event, plus it makes a great gift for the holidays.

3 1/2 cups
1 teaspoon Natural Grocers® Brand Bulk Real Salt
1⁄2 teaspoon Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Black Pepper
1 teaspoon Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Ground Allspice
1⁄4 teaspoon Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Ground Cardamom Seed
1⁄4 teaspoon Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Ground Cayenne
1⁄2 teaspoon Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Ground Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend
1⁄8 teaspoon Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Ground Turmeric
1⁄4 cup Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Coconut Sugar
1⁄2 cup Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Light Walnut Halves
1 cup hazelnuts
1⁄2 cup Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Whole Almonds
1⁄2 cup Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Spicy Pumpkin Seeds
1⁄2 cup Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Coconut Flakes
1⁄4 cup Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Organic Fine Shredded Coconut
1⁄4 cup Natural Grocers Brand Bulk Sweetened or Unsweetened Red Cherries
1⁄4 cup Natural Grocers Brand Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, melted
Natural Grocers Brand Organic Grade A Dark Maple Syrup, to drizzle over top
  1. Blend all spices together with coconut sugar and set aside.
  2. Place walnuts and hazelnuts in a large dry skillet. Gently roast, shaking frequently, over medium to medium high heat until aromatic, about 7 minutes.
  3. Add almonds and pumpkin seeds and continue to roast, stirring or shaking frequently until toasty and aromatic, about another 5 minutes.
  4. Turn heat down to medium, add coconut flakes and shreds and toast until golden brown, about 2 minutes.
  5. Add cherries, coconut oil and sugar-spice mix, stirring constantly.
  6. Generously drizzle syrups over the top and mix until evenly coated.
  7. Pour into cake pan and let cool completely. Break apart and enjoy!
