Peppermint Fudge Brownies

Rich fudge brownies topped with crushed candy canes make these Peppermint Brownies a festive and decadent treat. This quick dessert starts with our Natural Grocers Brand® Gluten Free Brownie Mix and the topping is simply mint chocolate and crushed candy canes. This easy recipe only takes 15 minutes to put together before it’s ready to go in the oven.

1 box Natural Grocers Brand Gluten Free Brownie Mix
2 Natural Grocers Brand Regenerative Organic Pasture-Raised Eggs
1 stick Natural Grocers Brand Organic Plant Based Buttery Sticks, or 1 stick butter
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon organic peppermint extract
1 bar Chocolove® Mint Crème in Dark Chocolate , 2.3-ounce bar, (or your favorite mint chocolate bar)
1⁄2 cup organic candy canes, crushed

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom and sides of an 8-inch or 9-inch square pan.

2. Prepare brownie mix as directed on package, stir in the peppermint extract, and spread the mix into the prepared pan.

3. Bake as directed, 21-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few wet crumbs. Do not cook until dry!

4. Break the chocolate bar into squares. When the brownies are removed from the oven, sprinkle the chocolate squares over the brownies and let them melt, about 5 minutes. Spread the melted chocolate over the brownies and sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top. Let cool completely, cut into squares, and serve. Store in an airtight container.
