Grilling Hacks: Natural Grocers Frozen Pizza on the Grill

Product

Keeping the heat outside during the summer months is the goal. Turning on a hot oven is the last thing any of us want, so why not extend your grilling horizons beyond chicken, burgers, and hot dogs? Did you know you can cook pizza, pancakes, and even casseroles on the grill? With no extra prep time and just one rule of thumb: if you can cook it in a cast iron skillet or Dutch oven you can cook it on the grill.

1 Natural Grocers® Brand Organic Pizza , any flavor
Optional pizza toppings: fresh organic basil, organic sliced sweet peppers, organic olives, sliced organic tomato, organic arugula (this is best added after the pizza has been grilled), Natural Grocers Brand Organic Balsamic Vinegar (drizzled over the pizza).

1. Preheat the grill on high heat to 400° F (this temperature is lower than the package instructions for baking the pizza in the oven). Once the grill is at temperature, adjust lit burners to maintain the temperature at 400° F (watch carefully to prevent the temperature from rising).

2. Completely remove pizza from packaging, add optional toppings (except spinach and arugula) and place directly on the grill grates over the burner that is turned off, close the lid and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the pizza crust is nicely browned.

3. Use a large metal spatula and tongs to slide the pizza onto a cutting board or baking sheet. Cool for a couple of minutes before slicing and serving.
